home made pasta and meatball

Dan loves home made pasta and meatball, so we bought a pasta machine, and Eve try to made it. First attempt, success :)
it is not difficult but a lot of work.is so much easy to buy pasta in grocery shop, but taste so much different. I think we will stick to the home made one.

Apple Pecan Sticky Bun









Ingredients:
2 tart apples, such as granny smith- peeled, cored and sliced 1/4 inch thick
1 1/4 cups plus 1 tablespoon packed light brown sugar
1 1/2 sticks (6ounces) butter, softened
2 cups flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon of baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 tablespoons of honey

directions:

1. preheadt the oven to 400/ greese a 9 inch square baking pan. place the apples, 1 tbs brown sugar and 1 tbs butter on a parchment paper lined baking sheet, toss to coat. cover loosely with foil and roast until tender, 15mins, lower temperature to 350.

2. meanwhile, using an electric mixer, blend the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder and 1/4 salt at low speed. add 5 tbs butter n mix until crumbly. in a small bowl, whisk the eggs with 1/2 cup cream, then mix into the dry ingredients.

3. on a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to form a 9 inch rectangle. in a small bowl, mix 1/2 cup brown sugar, the pecans and cinnamon.

cut up 2 tbs butter butter and dot the dough. sprinkle the brown sugar mixture on top and cover evenly with the roasted apple. rolled up the dough, jelly roll style, and cut crosswise into 9 slices, place the slices cut side down in the prepared baking pan. bake until golden, 35-50 mins. transfer to a rack cool.

4. meanwhile,in a saucepan, bring the remaining 4 tbs butter, 3/4 teaspoon salt and the honey to a boil, stirring. whisk until reduced, about 2 minutes. let cool slightly. drizzle the sauce over the warm buns.

Chili Corn Carne



serve 4

1 pound ground beef
1 large onion sliced
3 tbs shortening or salad oil
1 green pepper chopped
1 can of tomatoes
1 1/2 teaspoon of salt
3 cloves
1 bay leaf crushed
2-3 tbs chili powder
1 can red chili or kidney beans
1/2 cup red wine
1/2 cup of water
rice (optional)

Directions:

1. Brown the onion in the shortening or salad oil. add the beef n green pepper brown, stirring as the meet cooks. add the tomatoes, salt, cloves, bay leaf and chilies powder.
2. Cover and cook about 2 hours.
3. add bean, wine and water. simmer until heated through, about 5 minutes. try serve on rice.

Pan Fried Chops with Grape Salad


serves: 4 prep: 10min cook : 20min

Four 1 inch thicky sliced Pork Chops
Salt and Pepper

1 teaspoon dried oregano
2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 red onion, halved and thinly sliced
1 cup red seedless grapes, halved
4 ounces baby spinach
1/4 cup sliced almonds, toasted
2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar


1. preheat the oven to 400. season the pork chops with salt, pepper and the oregano. in a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until rippling. add the chops and cook, turning once, until browned, about 4 minutes. transfer to a baking sheet, reserving the skillet and any juices, and roast until cooked through, 12 to 15minues.

2. meanwhile, in the same skillet, cook the red onion over medium-high heat for 3 minutes. stir in the grapes and 1/4 cup water and remove from the heat.

3. remove the chops from the oven, tent with foil and let rest for 5 minutes. stir the spinach, almonds and balsamic vinegar into the onion mixture; season with salt and pepper. serve the salad with the pork chops

蛋炒丝瓜


很容易做,又好吃!! 丝瓜,能够清热化痰、凉血解毒、解暑除烦,因此,近日来就学做有关丝瓜的汤菜。

主料:丝瓜、鸡蛋
辅料:盐,香油,corn flour add water,garlic,姜片

做法:
1、取两根新鲜的长丝瓜,洗净后,削去外皮,然后对半切开后,切薄薄的斜片;
2、取两个鸡蛋,打入碗中,打碎碎的;
3、取一炒锅,置于火上,锅内倒入比平常炒菜的油量稍多些的油;
4、油热后,炒香garlic,姜片,倒入打好的鸡蛋,迅速滑炒,然后关火,盛入碗中;
5、锅内添少许香油,稍热,将丝瓜片倒入,进行翻炒;加入 corn flour water
6、丝瓜片炒软后,倒入炒好的鸡蛋,加入适量的盐,进行炒匀;
7、关火,盛入碟中,即可上桌。
